Owner's Description

Winter Variety 1. The present coin is a rare and attractive Mint State example of this issue. The surfaces show only a moderate number of handling marks, with a diagonal scratch in front of Liberty's nose that limits the grade. The strike is generally strong with only moderate weakness at the centers, consistent with most ’46-C half eagles. There is ample frosty cartwheel luster on both surfaces. The underlying color is green-gold with delightful hints of red clinging to the devices. Purchased from Doug Winter; ex: Heritage 2/09: 2726.
