Owner's Description
The Philadelphia Mint produced nearly 32 million Roosevelt dimes dated 1958 and mint state survivors are in the hundreds of thousands. However, coins with full torch strike are very rare among the series.
PCGS estimates that less than 10,000 1958-P Roosevelt with full torch strike survive in MS 65 condition or better. In total, there are less than 125 1958-P Roosevelts that have been certified by NGC or PCGS with a FT or FB designation.
This dime has a very dark tone on the obverse with neutral eye-appeal. The reverse, however, is bright white, 100% spot-free, and has great luster.
It has a good strike on the obverse, but the strike on the reverse is average to below average with medium hairlines in the field. The upper torch band line is clear, defined, and uninterrupted. But the vertical lines are only 90% complete and the lower band line is not present at all.
Light contact marks are present on both sides, but all things considered this coin is overgraded at MS 67. A more appropriate grade is perhaps MS 66. Overall, though, this is a pretty cool coin. Ex: Michael R. Bianco III
