Owner's Description

The Denver Mint produced nearly 165 million Roosevelt dimes in 1959 putting the date within the top ten most minted years. Due to high production, millions of 1959-D Roosevelts still survive in high grade condition.

The 1959-D here is a bit special. This dime is from the Richmond Collection. The Richmond Collection was auctioned by David Lawrence Rare Coins in 2004-2005, which included over 3,600 coins comprising a near-complete set of U.S. coins from 1839 to 1955. NGC calls the Richmond Collection "one of the greatest US coin collections ever assembled.”

This dime is bright white with full luster and is nearly spot-free. Only the smallest spots of discoloration is seen through very strong magnification.

All vertical and band lines on the torch are very clear, well-defined, and uninterrupted. There is one contact mark across the lower band line, however it does not interrupt the continuity of the line.

This contact mark on the lower band line is the only significant mark on the whole coin. And overall, this coin is appropriately graded and a very nice coin. This is one of my favorite dimes in the entire collection.
