Owner's Description

The 1963-D Roosevelt is very common among the series. The Denver Mint produced over 420 million dimes dated 1963, and mint state specimens survive in the millions. Roosevelts certified MS 65 have book values of only $5 to $10.

However, coins with full torch strikes are much less common. In total, NGC and PCGS have less than 250 Denver-minted Roosevelts certified FT or FB, putting the date among the top ten least silver Roosevelt dimes to receive the designation. Grades above MS 67 are also quite uncommon. NGC and PCGS have less then 50 certified 1963-D Roosevelts graded higher than MS 67 in their registries combined.

The 1963-D Roosevelt here is bright white with great luster on both sides. The coin has a great strike with only very light hairlines and spread on some of the lettering. It has great details with fine eye and brow feature and has a near full torch strike.

The vertical and upper band lines on the torch are clear, well-defined, and uninterrupted. The lower band line is less defined, and there is a very small interruption in the center of the band line. Nevertheless the coin is very close to having a full torch strike.

Other very light contact marks are present but overall this dime is appropriately graded. This is a great coin with not much too complain about.
