Owner's Description

The Philadelphia Mint produced nearly 75 million Roosevelt dimes dated 1948 and millions of examples survive in uncirculated and mint state condition.

The 1948-P here has a spotty, medium/heavy mainly russet-colored tone on both sides. There are some dark steel blue colors around most of the perimeter on the obverse. And although the coin still retains some of its luster, it has below average eye-appeal in general. However, it has a good strike and fine details on both sides.

Torch lines are all clear and defined and may be uninterrupted. This coin is encased in NGC fifth generation of slabs, before the company began FT designation. This coin is a good candidate for designation review. However, it may also benefit from conservation.

Significant contact marks include a few on the lowest point of the torch, as well as several small scattered scratches on Roosevelt's face and hair.

All things considered, this coin may be graded MS 66 today due to the toning however should be reviewed for FT designation and may benefit from conservation. Overall this dime is not the highlight of the collection in its current state.
