Owner's Description

1889 25C PR 68 ULTRA CAMEO. Since the frosty devices imparted by freshly prepared proof dies diminish quickly with use, the majority of coins of a proof issue will have a non-contrasted appearance, as opposed to a cameo effect. The current coin illustrates this point well. There is none finer in this year with only 711 proofs and 12,000 business strikes. This is an exceptional coin with greatly frosted devices and sharply contrasted mirrors.
