The United States Botanic Garden was established by Congress in 1820, it is the oldest in North America, it is located on the National Mall.
FAST FACT: The Botanic Gardens Silver Dollar was issued two years late?
NGC UNIVERSAL ID 28UC Mintage: 58,505. Population: 177. Pre-issue Price: $30.00. Regular Price: $33.00.
Edgar Z. Steever designed the obverse of the coin depicting the facade of the Botanic Garden. Some collectors confuse the obverse because of the denomination being there. Hence this is probably why you see this coin holdered two different ways. The reverse is of a single rose with a rose garland around the outer edge, and designed by William C. Cousins.
Answere to FAST FACT: The coin was issued to commemorate the 165th anniversary of the garden which would have been in 1995.
