Owner's Description

The obverse of the coin features a image of Old Faithful, probably the parks most famous and visited attraction. The reverse is that of a buffalo/bison and vista as on National Parks shield.
The park spans an area of 3,468 square miles. and is comprised of lakes, canyon rivers, mountain ranges and Lake Yellowstone is on of the largest high-altitude lakes in North America. FAST FACT: Yellowstone sits over what is called a "caldera" which is considered to be an active volcano.
Half the worlds geothermal features are found in Yellowstone fueled of course by its ongoing volcanism.
Hundreds of species of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and plant life and organisms live in the park, some of which are endangered.
