Owner's Description
The Bald Eagle Silver Dollar was minted at the Philadelphia Mint in proof and uncirculated versions. The obverse was designed by Joel Iskowitz, while the reverse was designed by Jim Licaretz. The maximum allowed mintage was 500,000.
Mintage: 119,204. Population: 6541. NGC Universal ID: 28WL. Catalog #KM-439. Pre-issue Price: $35.95. Regular Price: $37.95.
The Bald Eagle Commemorative coins went on sale on January15,2008. Pre-issue pricing was available early on.
This coin was part of a three coin program. The 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollar was issued to mark the recovery of the species and also to recognize the 35th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act. The silver dollar obverse has an image of a mature Bald Eagle flying. The reverse features a representation of the Great Seal of the United States that was used from 1782-1841.
