Philadelphia was the mint that struck the proof and uncirculated coins. They were sold in specially issued sets or individually. The proof was included in the 3 coin set. The uncirculated coin was part of the Coin and Medal Set. Later the 2008 American Legacy Collection included the proof version as well.
The Bald Eagle Commemorative Dollar was issued on January 15, 2008 to mark the 35th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act.
The obverse design was by Joel Iskowitz, while the reverse was designed by Jim Licaret. The 2008 Bald Eagle Silver Dollar was part of a three coin program including a $5 gold and copper-nickel clad half dollar.
