Owner's Description
The 1996 Olympic High Jump Silver Dollar featured an athlete making a high jump using the Fosbury Flop technique. The Fosbury Flop is accomplished by running to the bar and turning your back to it and jumping.
DID YOU KNOW? The Fosbury Flop was pioneered by Dick Fosbury in the 1960s.
It is now the standard to high jumping by both men and women alike. The Flop led to many new hights achieved and world records.
The 1996 Olympic High Jump was as all the other 16 coins meant for the Atlanta Olympics not meeting the expected demand for them that never emerged.
