In 1992 the Olympic Silver Dollar was issued for the XXV games held in Barcelona, Spain, Albertville, and Savoie, France. Surcharges from the sale of the commemorative coins was included in the prices of the coins and used to train American athletes.
The obverse of the silver dollar shoes a image similar to that of Nolan Ryan getting ready to throw a pitch. The image is erily similar to one on a 1991 Fleer baseball trading card. This was denied by the coins designer however. The reverse image is that of the Union Shield with olive branches to each side and of course the olympic ringgs above. What is notable about this coin is that it has edge lettering around it in four places reading, "XXV Olympiad.
