Owner's Description

Eisenhower was of Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry and was raised in a large family in Kansas. He had two sons. Was Army Chief of Staff to President Harry S. Truman and was the President of Columbia University. DID YOU KNOW? One of his innovations called the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency led to the Internet.
Eisenhower sent Federal troops to Little Rock, Arkansas to desegregate schools.
The coin was released on January 16, 1990. Mintage: 241,669. Population: 172. NGC Universal ID: 28R6. Catalog # KM-227. Pre-issue Price: $23.00. Regular Price: $26.00. In 1990 only one commemorative coin was issued, resulting in a lull in the multiple coin issues seen for past and future years. The 1990 Eisenhower Silver Dollar was issued to mark the centennial of the birth of Dwight D. Eisenhower. His birthday is October 14, 1890. He is honored as both a 5 star General and as the 34th President of the United States. He was supreme commander of the Allied forces in WWII. He was instrumental in the building of the Interstate Hiway System.
The obverse is a right facing Eisenhower over a left facing view of him as a five star General. This is the only coin that bears the two facial portraits of the same person on the same side of a coin.
