Owner's Description

The 1983 Olympics was issued to commemorate the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic games. This denomination of one dollar is the mainstay of todays Modern Commemorative. The obverse shows a discus thrower in "action" so to speak as the image is that of one in motion. The reverse shows the upper torso and head of a bald eagle. The 1983 silver dollar Olympic commemoratives were struck in Denver, Philadelphia and San Francisco. and the proof version was struck at the San Francisco Mint. The proof version and the uncirculated version were available separately, the Denver and San Francisco versions were only available via a three coin uncirculated set. A three and six coin set incorporating the proof version and the Philadelphia versions were offered. Mintage: 174,014. Population: 1383. Regular Price: $28.00.
