Owner's Description

CYPRUS, KING GEORGE V 1/2 PIASTRE 1922.

The first 1/2 piastre for the reign of George V was issued in 1922, fourteen years after the previous issue in 1908 for the reign of Edward VII.

OBVERSE: Crowned bust of George V facing left.
REVERSE: 1/2 within a beaded circle.
ENGRAVER: Obverse: Edwar Bertram MacKennal. Reverse: Leonard Charles Wyon.
DIAMETER: 27.5 mm
WEIGHT: 5.83 g
EDGE: Plain.
METAL COMPOSITION: Copper 95%, Tin 4%, Zinc 1%.
MINTAGE: 36,000
RARITY: Scarce in low grades, but extremely rare in uncirculated.
