Owner's Description

F-116. It is amazing to me that Gerry Fortin has identified seventeen diferent die combinations, several of which--misplaced digits, die doubling, repunched mint marks--involve mint errors. It starts to get hard to identify a variety which does not contain an error, but F-116 is one of them. I identified it only from the position of the date and the position of the mint mark, and the fact that it did not contain an error. One MS-66 at PCGS appears to be the finest graded along with eight MS-66s at NGC. The mottled toning diminishes the luster and detracts from the eye appeal of the coin. The strike is good, and I would rate the coin at best average for the grade. Bought from a Heritage auction, December, 2005, lot 456.
