Owner's Description

Surprisingly for so common a date (R4, and of so little consequence that it is placed out of sequence vis-a-vis the 1877-CC in Greer's book) a pop-1 coin at PCGS (NGC also lists one MS-67). No surprise about the grade however. A strikingly beautiful coin with no imperfections. After some diligent searching I came to the conclusion that the coin is a F-108 from the slope of the date and the position of the mintmark. I would note there is a vertical die scratch on the obverse above the right edge of the shield. Bought from a Heritage sale, August, 2006, lot 5143.
