Owner's Description

F-118. With 123 varieties listed in Fortin it took a while to pinpoint this one, mainly because the salient feature of this variety is a perfect strike with no die clashing or die cracks or any other identifying marks. Only the postion of the date confirms this as a F-118. To me the one noticeable variant, the upper part of the loop of the D in UNITED is filled with a significant irregularity. A very common date with PCGS having graded four MS-67s, and NGC chipping in with another nine. Common it may be, but its toning makes it lovely to gaze upon. Bought from a Heritage auction, May, 2007, lot 316.
