Owner's Description

F-102a. A well above average srike given a heavily rusted obverse die, and a reverse die just about ready to break up. The die cracks on the reverse are quite heavy and exactly as outlined in Gerry Fortin's web site. The two majors involve: 1) the leaf on the left side with the crack running from the rim at 10:00 into the leaf, and then back to the rim at 8:00; 2) on the lower right side one that is so complicated it is impossible to describe. I will just say it runs up along the wreath from 6:00 to almost 1:00. One of four MS-66s graded (two at each service), with one MS-67 finer at NGC. The luster is good, and the toning light, giving the coin good eye appeal. Bought from Ken Goldberg, January, 2003.
