Owner's Description

F-104 (proof) or F-104a (mint state)? I have examined this coin for a long time trying to make that determination, but finally sided with NGC that it is most likely a F-104a. Although in general the coin seems to have a proof-like sharpness, the left bow knot on the reverse is flatly struck, and the reverse is not fully mirrored. Pop eight at NGC with two finer. Similarly pop three at PCGS with two finer. The pretty obverse toning caused NGC to put a "*" along side the grade, although there is a fair degree of chatter in both the obverse and reverse fields to account for the numerical score. Bought from Anaconda, February, 2007.
