Owner's Description

F-104, with the recutting of the 8 and the 9 in the date evident within their upper loops. The highest graded at PCGS and a rare variety to boot (R-4). For the date, pops at PCGS are one in MS-65 and one in MS-66, while NGC has posted six MS-65s to go with three MS-66s. There is a significant die break on the reverse through the A in STATES, down into the wreath. There is a secondary very light die break on the reverse from the top of the right ribbon down through the right stem as illustrated in Fortin, but it does not continue on to the dentils. A lightly toned clean coin with only one small spot by the right ribbon on the reverse. Bought from the Heritage auction of the Simpson collection, September, 2010, lot 3634.
