Owner's Description

F-102. No repunching on any of the stars, the position of the date, everything argues for this to be a F-102, except there is no evidence of the radial die lines to the right of the scroll called for by Fortin. None of the other eight varieties of the date comes close though, so I will be content in terming the coin an F-102. At R-4+ the date is not especially rare, but this coin would probably lie well up in the condition census. There are only two MS-67s at PCGS with none finer, while there are also two MS-67s at NGC but in this case there are two finer MS-68s. The coin itself seems perfectly struck and the only imperfection worth mentioning is a small pinpoint spot on the back of Liberty's head. Bought from a Heritage auction, October, 2001. lot 5935.
