Owner's Description

This was the fifth coin purchased for the set in mid-July 2008. It came from another society member who had one of the best lincoln cent sets in the registry at the time. I was talking to my step-father on the phone about what we still needed for the set and I decided to run a few searches online to see if any coins had come up for sale. I hadn't expected to find anything but there it was in the search results and we decided to go for it.

Getting this coin became one of the biggest battles of the set. It was up for auction with what turned out to be a pretty high reserve. Choya and I wanted the coin and in this grade so that it would match the other cent in the set. This was the first 1932-D cent I'd seen in any decent MS grade and I was worried that it would be a long time before I saw another. But the price was a big sticking point. Ultimately we decided to swallow the pill, bitter though it was, and win the coin. Having this coin left just 1 more hurdle to overcome, the 1932-D quarter.

This is a beautiful coin with great luster and a wonderful red color all over. It proved a little difficult to get either of these to show up in imaging. The spot shown in the image of the obverse is reflected light, most likely from the plastic of the slab and is not on the coin. As you would expect from an MS66RD, there are no meaningful nicks or scratches on the coin. This coin has a population of 55 with 13 finer in MS67RD.
