Owner's Description

Mintage: 2.6 Million
Full Step Availability: 10%
Population MS67: 215/0
Date/mm Information: The lowest mintage of the series was widely hoarded and Bowers remarks "Although Mint State coins are very common today, most are rather dull or uninspiring in appearance, often struck from worn dies and lackluster. For a sparkling gem with sharp steps the adjective scarce can truly be applied.

Coin Description:
Golden toning rests on well struck satin surfaces that have been well preserved.

Comments:
Well Bowers was right, dull and uninspiring. A rather generic example of this so called key date surely awaits an upgrade in both quality and eye appeal. This date/mm has become my "WHITE WHALE". The current offering represents my 5th attempt at the so called key date. Despite the commonality of the issue in mint state, the date/mm is still considered the key date of the series and the coin that represents this slot reflects upon the overall quality of the collection. I will not rest until I capture my white whale, an awe inspiring example of date/mm. At least I paid a bargain price of $100 for this coin from Bowers & Merena in March 2009.
