Owner's Description

Mintage: 44.7 Million
Full Step Availability: 10%
Poplulaton MS66: 537/86
Date/mm Information: A wide range of quality is seen for this date.

Coin Description:
A curious coin with an unusual appearance. Stunning iridescent toning appears sandy from the front but transforms into monster bands of yellow, pink, and lime green when rotated under the light. The reverse is dominated by powder blue with blushes of rainbow toning on the peripheries. A market graded example has it's fair share of surface marks for the assigned grade.

Comments:
Occasionally, you find a toned coin that appeals to you so much that you are willing to forego the registry points associated with a higher graded example. This is one of those rare coins. The coin has good step detail but a few unfortunately placed nicks eliminate any chance for a full step designation. Unless an MS67 appears on the market with comparable eye appeal, this MS66* will continue to overachieve in this collection. I paid 15X wholesale for this beauty from a well known dealer in December 2008.
