Owner's Description

Mintage: 32.3 Million
Full Step Availability: 50%
Population MS67 5FS: 99/0
Date/mm Information: Like the 1943-D, high grade lustrous eye appealing full step coins are readily available.

Coin Description:
A phenomenal toned Jefferson from the famous Appalachian Hoard. This coin is outstanding in every respect. Near flawless surfaces, booming luster, and excellent strike account for the grade. However, the incredible toning makes this coin one of the most eye appealing Jefferson Nickels in existence. The obverse is bathed in commingled orange gold, bright pink, light green, and aquamarine. The reverse is impressively toned in several shades of green and pink. This coin is in it's original old generation holder with the T designation for exceptional toning. Upon resubmission this coin will (100%) obtain the star status, 5FS, and 272 more points.

Comments:
It should be noted the population of the 1944-D in MS67 6FS is 127/1. With 227 full step examples in MS67 or better, finding an eye appealing example is paramount. An at the pinnacle of eye appeal sits this coin.

Rick Tomaska has developed a marketing idea called "Everest Coins". Here is how he describes an Everest coin: "These are "The Irreplaceable Rare Coins" – coins offering you the eye-appeal and beauty that few if any of its kind can hope to equal, that once gone, may never be seen again. Simply put, it is your guarantee that the coin you have acquired, in eye-appeal, ranks at the highest peak of desirability for its issue, with few if any of comparable symmetry and beauty. An Everest coin is about the present – owning a coin you know is superb every time you look at it. And an Everest coin is about your future – owning a coin whose desirability and "gotta have it" quotient will only grow with the passage of time!"

There is no doubt that if this coin rested in Tomaska's inventory, it would be catalogued as an Everest Coin. I rank this coin simply named "EVEREST" 3rd in the collection behind the 1941-D MS67* 5FS and the 1943-P DDO MS67 5FS. It is priced accordingly and I paid a huge premium (23X Wholesale) to obtain this remarkable coin from a long time purveyor of toned coins on E-Bay.
