Mintage: 4.1 Million<br />Full Step Availability: 2%<br />Population MS66: 1160/280<br />Date/mm: Mint state coins are plentiful but most are weakly struck from tired dies and full step coins are rare.<br /><br />Coin Description:<br />Silky smooth, bold and beautiful. Just a hint of champagne toning on a very attractive Jefferson.<br /><br />Comments:<br />While there are 280 1938-S Jeffersons graded MS67 by both services, there has only been one offered in auction by Heritage in the last two years. This date/mm has proven to be most elusive and I have not found any that are more attractive than the present coin offered. This coin was purchased as one of three in a Heritage Internet only auction in February 2009 for $57.
