Owner's Description
1950 50C Booker T. Washington MS67 PCGS. It has only been in the last few years that the Booker T. and Washington-Carver issues have been recognized as condition rarities. They were commonly encountered 40-50 years ago, with a few coins even escaping into the channels of commerce. As a rule, BTW halves are extensively abraded, which makes this coin so exceptional. There are no obvious marks on either side, just the usual small and insignificant abrasions on Washington's face. As unusual as this is to locate on this issue, what is perhaps even more extraordinary is the thick, soft mint frost that covers each side. Most of the coin is brilliant with just the slightest accent of golden color around the periphery on the obverse. This is the only PCGS-graded MS67 and there are none finer at either of the major services (4/06).
