Owner's Description

1880-CC GSA Dollar Rev. ’78 (Flat Breast) VAM 4 (80/79) NGC MS-64: "White snow” surfaces. The exquisite detail on all the raised devices is breathtaking.

We know that the number of contact marks and other abrasions on a coin always influence its grade, and while this piece has enough small hits to keep it in the MS-64 category, the professionals at NGC must have debated over denying it the next higher grade. The most noticeable marks are on Liberty’s jaw, to the left of her ear, and next to M in UNUM. The reverse ticks are not worth mentioning (curiously, a stray hair, probably from a GSA worker in the early 1970s, extends outward from the C in AMERICA). Overall, a just-miss MS-65 specimen with knockout eye appeal. With original box and certificate.
