Owner's Description

As this collection comes to a close I am having a bit of trouble finding coins that fit in with the correct eye-appealing characteristics – Solid strike for the Date/Mint, limited contact and some level of color that makes the coin unique. Well, I am fortunate to have located this 1947 Walker in a recent Teletrade auction that meets my criteria quite nicely.<br /><br />The color, which tends to be the factor in this collection that causes me to stop and take a closer look at a coin, is quite nice. A subtle ring of rose/gold encircles the rim of both the Obverse and Reverse. The rim color is set against a nice steel/blue across the central areas of the Obverse. The Reverse has a similar steel/blue, but has a bit more rose extending farther into the field of the coin.<br /><br />The strike is good though not what one would call sharp. Contact is at a real minimum. As a result, the coin is firmly and accurately graded at the MS-65 level.
