Owner's Description

In my humble opinion, no collection is complete without a coin from Liberty Bell Coins. This 1944-D is that coin - an absolutely stunning gem from a first rate dealer. This coin has a very eye-appealing touch of rose toning around the Obverse rim which, as anyone reading my descriptions regarding this set knows, is a key element for me. In contrast, the balance of the Obverse is an incredibly lustrous gem that, when viewed against the crescent of tone, gives the coin its outstanding overall eye-appeal. The Reverse only exhibits at small amount of toning, but retains the super mint luster of the Obverse. The strike is extremely sharp on both Obverse and Reverse and there is almost zero contact.<br /><br />This is one of those times that I think the grade received should have been higher. I generally can find an element of the grading criteria that justifies the assigned grade on the coins I own, but in this case I am in disagreement. What I do agree with is Tom’s commitment to numismatics – “Liberty Bell Coins philosophy is to acquire attractive coins that would meet the most demanding collector's requirements.” Thanks Tom for another gem.
