Owner's Description

1799 $1 8x5 Stars AU53 PCGS. B-23, BB-159, R.4. Throughout the entire early silver dollar series, this is the only die variety with the stars arranged eight left and five right. It is a major Guide Book variety and also a PCGS Set Registry variety that is highly desired by specialists and general collectors alike. The PCGS population data reveals that two coins have been certified as MS64 (probably just one example that was resubmitted), and the next finest is just AU58. This attractive example retains considerable luster beneath rich lilac and iridescent toning on both sides. Population: 2 in 53, 5 finer
