Owner's Description

A specimen example of the smallest denomination, from the first issue of the Banco Internacional de Costa Rica is the note selected for this bank. The 25 centimos note from 1918-1919 has the image of an allegorical female on the left representing Costa Rica (Athena? in reference to the 1917 coup), it is interesting that the equivalent in coins was 25 centavos – an error by someone during the rapid changes in government at the time?
