Owner's Description

The notes issued by this bank all feature a portrait of Francisco Argandona on the front although the position varies, for the 1 peso note from 1909 (S147b) which represents the bank in this set his older portrait is on the left. A mining scene on the right highlights the source of funds used to establish the bank although I expect a child wielding a pick may raise a few eyebrows today! The back of the note has two female figures, representing industry and commerce, reclining either side of the Bolivian coat of arms.
