Owner's Description

Attleboro, MA The First NB Ch. # (N)2232 Tillman | Morgan PMG 20 minor rust $10 1882 BB Fr. 487 SN 4104/R224155R pp A/48 dtd. Mar. 4, 1895. Although two federally chartered banks were located in this community, this was the only one that lasted long enough to issue Brown Backs. The $5 denomination with its distinctive tombstone in this type is considerably more available than the $10 (25 to 7, no $20BB). This $10 has excellent color and dark signatures with just some minor paper clip rust on the back. The FNB waited to order a 3x$10-$20 plate until 1900 and thus rec'd a plate w/hidden star despite the earlier plate date of Mar. 4, 1895. Penned signatures of Fred'k G. Mason, Cashier (1903-1926) and Clarence L. Watson, President (1906-1925).
