Set Description:
Located in central Europe, Bohemia and Moravia were part of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1939 and from 1945 to 1992. However during the period 1939 to 1944, Bohemia and Moravia were occupied by Nazi Germany and were considered a German Protectorate, pursuant to the Munich Agreement of 1938. After World War II, the countries were restored as part of Czechoslovakia. Starting in 1993 and continuing to the present day, they are part of the Czech Republic.
During the Protectorate Period under Nazi Germany, Bohemia and Moravia issued their own currency. Only 17 different notes (by Pick number) were issued during this time period. Some notes were very simple, with children and other common people depicted, and others with dignitaries or historical characters or settings. Most notes can be found at reasonable prices in high grades. There are also many specimen notes in high grades available, and thank you PMG for providing a slot for Specimens in the Registry. The Bohemia and Moravia notes tend to be not as colorful as some countries, but remember, this area was controlled by Nazi Germany, and it was a time of harsh repression of non-German people.
