Jeremiah Johnson, is one of my all time favorite movies.
Since I am an avid hunter and have trapped my fair share of furbearers and skinned enough pelts in my youth, I have always been fascinated by Mountain Men and their awesome lifestyle since lower school. I remember my first Rendezvous I went to when I was little guy with my Dad. I recall staring at grizzly old characters adorned in furs - throwing hatchets, shooting black powder and knapping arrow/spear heads, bird-points and scrapers. It was such an odd yet neat and intriguing scene for a young kid to see. I have been enthralled ever since with Mountain Men.
Men like Jim Bridger, Jedediah Smith, Colter, Carson and obviously Liver Eating Johnson who were all intricate parts to the outset of our Western expansion through their profound exploration as guides, translators, trappers, etc. Furthermore, without their motivation for financial gain or their handiwork for supplying the demand of the fur craze, great companies like The Rocky Mountain Fur Company and The Hudson Bay Company would not have seen the light of day — and the Fur Trade would not have been as we know it nor would the time frame/period of 1800-1880s.
Ensuing - All of Ben Bowie and His Mountain Men books (1953-59) are a must have collection for me. I have multiple copies of Readers in all the F.C. and Dell Ben Bowie books, some up NM condition. Goal was compile a 9.4 collection.
Probably my most unique piece of my Ben Bowie collection is my bound trifecta. It is a stellar group of File Copies of Ben Bowie and His Mountain Men #7-17 Bound Volumes (Dell, 1956-59) that have been trimmed and bound into a set of three hardcover volumes with Dell Publisher, George T. Delacorte Jr's name embossed on the spines. All the copies are strict VF/NM or better, it is truly a gorgeous set.
My favorite:) piece of my collection is my 9.6 white #443. I never thought a copy of this book would surface and slab out this high. It is truly such a hard book to find in remotely HG. Thrilled to be the owner of the lone highest copy:)

As many are fully aware, they are in their own respects - the best of the best when it comes to the Boards, The Registry and comic collecting/collections! I hope you three know how grateful I am for being so cordial to me personally and than so accommodating to my HG quest. So very honored by your actions and correspondences gentlemen - you guys take care and thank-you all so very much again. Without their help I would not have near the 9.4 or 9.6s nor the ow/w or white paged books!)
