Set Description:
This now classic, Bronze-Age DC series appeals to me because it includes so many 'One Hit Wonders'. All titles were seemingly billed as 1st issue try-outs and/or restarts for potential comic book series. Some characters made it into their own books, while others mercifully faded into comic obscurity. Featuring lots of great work by the likes of: Jack Kirby, Mike Grell, Steve Ditko and Walt Simonson, amongst others. The 1st appearance of the "Warlord" and the return of the "New Gods" in particlular, are clearly the more noteworthy issues of the series. Though it was nice to see a revamp of Dr. Fate, The Creeper and Metamorpho, most of the other original and/or rebooted characters are unfortunately unmemorable, but still fun. Personally, I'm a big fan of #4, the "Lady Cop" issue, its cheesy-1970's goodness is simply not to be missed! I wonder if Officer Liza Warner will ever catch the 'Killer in Boots'? Perhaps we'll never know...
