Owner's Description
1950 was the year the U.S. Mint started proof coin production after an 8 year absence. Total mintage for 1950 proof Franklins was 51,386. Most examples are hairlined heavily and a majority were weakly struck (shallow). Two more common problems were pitting on the devices and stains from the glue they used to package the proof sets. Finding a gem level brilliant proof Franklin in this year is very hard to do, finding a gem level cameo without the hairlines or glue residue is considered a rarity. At the time of this writing, I am still searching for a gem level brilliant proof with hopes of someday finding that elusive cameo.
