Owner's Description
Newfoundland 1888 20 Cents
Krause ID: KM#4
Mintage: 75,000
Composition: .925 Silver
Obverse: Queen Victoria
This is a nice example of the Newfoundland series of 20 Cents silver coinage. Most Newfoundland coins experienced extensive circulation. Newfoundland coinage is fairly difficult to find in the higher grades due to low mintages and the fact that hard coinage was preferred over paper money from 1865 thru 1947 due to multiple bank failures.
NGC gave this coin a VF-30. This coin is a typical example from this series, most Newfoundland coinage usually exhibits extensive wear as mentioned above.
