Owner's Description

The 1999 G50Y Serif 1 is considered by experts to be the third rarest regular issued BU panda after the 1998 LD 1/2 and the 2000 Mirrored 1/2. Upon acquisition this coin was the rarest BU panda ever graded in MS70 grade because no G50Y Mirror pandas or G50Y 1998 LD pandas had yet attained a grade of MS70. This coin was acquired from an astute collector who submitted 30+ G50Y 1999 coins in one submission. Of those 30 coins only two came in at MS70. 1999 Pandas sport three distinctive varieties from three different mints. Experts believe that as few as one serif 1 coin were minted out of every 10 G50Y 1999 Pandas making this pattern extremely rare. It is the true Mint State centerpiece gem of my entire collection.
