Owner's Description

The 1992 proof 1/2 has the lowest reported actual mintage of any half ounce panda with a scant 806. I personally think this coin is that rare but the 1994 may be rarer. I purchased a NGC graded set from a reputable dealer with the hopes of being able to conserve and upgrade the PF68 to a PF69. What gave me hope was the lack of forehead and face rub that you typically see on 67/68 1992 specimens. Upon resubmission the coin stayed at 68 which forced me to go on the search for a 69. I finally located one and was able to purchase the coin as a single only after selling the remainder of the 1992 set. This is a coin that is definitely worth buying already graded. Most sets in the original packaging stay in the original packaging because they won't grade up. The capsules were not sized properly for this year and the coins wriggle around and create rub on the pandas forehead and face which are the high points of the relief. This coin features a panda with an elongated face grasping a branch with three paws.
