Owner's Description

With 59 PF69 coins and just 4 PF68 and 2 PF67 upon submission I wanted to make sure my coin was squared away before submission. I sent this coin to NCS because there was a factory smudge mark on the field of the panda leg. NCS was able to remove about 60 or 70% of the smudge and as this was the only real detracting feature the coin fortunately still graded out to PF69. This coin was purchased from a private auction. In my experience the 1989 is harder to find than the 1988 despite both coins having the same reported actual mintage figures. There is a dimple in the panda's fur next to his arm that can appear to be a flaw. This dimple is unusually pronounced in the 1/2 versus the other denominations. It is not a flaw but is actually just a low spot on the relief of the coin. The coin features a panda superimposed on a background of decorative squares with proof fields.
