Owner's Description

I acquired this 1987P panda as an individual purchase. This is the earliest known PF70 or MS70 half ounce gold panda. Be very cautious when buying 1987 sets. The forehead of the panda is a highpoint that scuffs very easily in the original hard plastic container. Even sets that are double sealed are not safe from the dreaded forehead scuff that would make an otherwise flawless panda a PF67 or less. Several 1/2 coins from this date have forehead rub. The obverse design features a panda drinking water with ripples emanating from the center of where his mouth touches the water. This is my favorite design for the entire panda series.
