Jeff Smith story, cover, and art, Reprints Bone #1 in color, "Phoney Bone Gazillion Dollar Bill" included
Although this is not the first time the first issue has been colorized, it was the first time yours truly read it in color. Steve Hamaker performed the duties as he would for the rest of the saga a few years later. The back of the issue has an interesting historical piece by comics historian R.C. Harvey about Jeff’s early days before Bone #1 and a page by page discussion of the story itself. Includes some very cool preliminary pencil sketches for #1’s first page on notepad paper as well as an unused inked page. The comic itself came with a boxed Fone Bone figure which I still have.
Highest graded SS! Originally bought from Grails in a 9.8 slab, then sent to Joel Elad for the Flying Colors Comics signing (Concord, CA) on December 6, 2008. Jeff signed it with his artist’s signature which is definitely a bonus. Also have the Fone Bone figure advertised on the cover in its box.
