Unknown ratio virgin variant cover by David Mack. This was my introduction to Mack's artwork and I immediately loved it. I now have several books just for his cover art. His watercolor work really is glorious and this is one of my favorite covers of the 2005 run. The cast shadow really holds the figure of Sonja down, even though the entire image is very light and uses warm colors throughout. Her hair reminds me of Frank Brunner's work and her body reminds me of Frank Thorne's - two of the highest compliments I can pay to a Sonja artist. Obviously, Sonja isn't fighting in this image and her grip on her blades is out of sight, but the angle of her arms and the blades is possible, so while this is overly posed, it isn't so convoluted that no swordswoman ever was in this position.
Overall? I love it. 100% one of my favorite covers.
