Synopsis:
Storm, Cyclops, Wolverine, and Rachel Grey have boarded the SHIELD Helicarrier to work with Maria Hill and her team. They discuss how to approach Matthew Malloy, who is still in the crater in South Carolina, his power surging uncontrollably around him. The Beast is in contact via monitor and urges against a direct approach, so Rachel carefully connects with Matthew telepathically, appearing as Charles Xavier and flanked by over a dozen superheroes. Matthew asks the Professor where he has been, and the “Professor” offers to rebuild the psychic walls that have kept Matthew safe and sane. But Matthew is struggling to comprehend all of this, and despite Rachel's efforts, her cover is blown when Matthew detects her. He responds by snapping the Helicarrier in half, sending the X-Men and the SHIELD agents plummeting to certain doom, however, the SHIELD agents survive by using their personal force fields. Cyclops suddenly finds himself in the snow outside the New Xavier School. His students rush to his aid, while Rachel finds herself back at the Jean Grey School. She rushes to find Storm, who suffered a blow to the head during the fall, safe in her quarters. Rachel regrets that she failed the assignment, while Storm wonders where Wolverine and Cyclops have got to. The New Xavier School students stand over Cyclops while he recovers, before Magik teleports in, and informs him that Storm and Rachel are safe. She offers to take Cyclops back to the Jean Grey School, but he has another plan. The Stepford Cuckoos telepathically learn what the plan is and decide that it is crazy. Back amongst the debris of the SHIELD Helicarrier, Maria contacts whoever is listening and instructs them not to send the Avengers and for all agencies to stand down. She approaches Matthew and asks him to vacate the planet, before Cyclops and Magik teleport in. Cyclops tells Matthew that the two of them have a lot in common, and asks if he can buy him breakfast, as they have so much to discuss. Matthew accepts the invitation.
