Daredevil #5 features the origin and 1st appearance of the Matador (Manuel Eloganto) + a minor costume change!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $925.
Pacific Coast Pedigree!
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 1,129 Universal copies graded, only 27 copies were graded in 9.4 with only 16 copies graded higher: 14 in 9.6 and 2 in 9.8!
With these statistics in mind, this represents an impressive rarity factor of ONLY 2.39% of the total population!

Published in December of 1964, Daredevil #5 introduces us to another original Daredevil villain—El Matador! This set the tone for following the likes of the legendary Amazing Spider-Man run, as most of the early issues introduced a new primary antagonist that would provide continuity throughout the title!
With that said, here are the highlights of Daredevil #5:
• 1st appearance of one of Daredevil’s earliest villains (El Matador)!
• 1st time Daredevil’s costume has a double D on his chest (hence the minor costume change)!
• 1st Wally Wood Daredevil cover (in collaboration with Jack Kirby), who would later create the classic covers for issues 6-11!
• 6th ever appearance of Daredevil!
• Last issue published in 1964!
SIDE NOTE: I will eventually submit this stunner to be ReHoldered! I think the beautiful sunset background will coordinate well with the new Pedigree label! In addition, with the clearer case, the colors are going to radiate even more vibrantly!
In closing, I purchased this PERFECTLY WRAPPED & CENTERED Pacific Coast Pedigree copy from the Comic Link Exchange in January of 2022! I am super proud to own this immaculate copy and look forward to watching it appreciate each year!
