Synopsis:
Jean Grey is out in the woods to get some peacetime and to try and practice using her newfound powers on a small scale. As she prepares to make a coffee, Wolverine attacks her and she only avoids him by bending over to pick up a coffee pot at just the right time. His surprise attack has failed and Jean instinctively changes to her Phoenix costume. Wolverine says he wanted to see if she was as good as they say. He is a killer and he wants to know if they’re two of a kind. She admires his skill in surprising her but, since his attack failed, his accomplice has unshielded his thoughts. She lifts Banshee from the thicket nearby and deposits him by his teammate. They are concerned for her but she explains that she was just trying to practice her fine motor control. She is starting to enjoy using her power and is afraid that she’ll lose control at some point. Wolverine reassures her that she’s a tough lady and is confident she’ll come through. She offers them a coffee and telekinetically slides the coffee pot into Sean’s hand before lifting the entire lake, using her power. They are amazed but she points out that controlling just a small amount of water is probably more difficult. Kurt suddenly appears in a tree and distracts her. She spills the water and Kurt has to teleport to safety. After rescuing Wolverine, they point out that she can undo what she has done. She tries this and puts the water back where it came from. As punishment for getting her into this mess, she gives them the task of making the coffee.
