Owner's Description
I didn't even know this half-sketch version of issue 34C by Batista even existed so when it popped up on fee-bay, I had to add it to my set. I like Batista's work generally, and this is an excellent cover - both this version and the fully colored version which I do not have (I picked up the Mel Rubi cover A when it came out). The coloration makes it difficult for me to talk about the coloring on the cover. I mean - I guess I like the gimmick for the convention edition, but the image obviously wasn't made by Batista to be presented in this manner - this isn't his vision. Sonja is geared up with a spear and shield in this image - a nice combination of the most commonly used medieval weapon and a shield. Plus the shield is highly decorated on the face. Sonja is all wound up with both her hips and shoulders to give that spear a mighty hurl and I believe her body language. She means business and she looks like a badass.
Overall? I may not have picked this up from my LCS - but the cover is definitely a winner in my book.
